There are places we visit—and then there are places that seem to call us home.

For me, that place was Sedona, Arizona.

Surrounded by towering red rocks, ancient landscapes, endless blue skies, and an energy unlike anywhere else I have experienced, Sedona has become not only my home but an important part of my spiritual journey.

My story, however, began nearly 2,000 miles away.

I was born and raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. Although my spiritual path had taken me to many places throughout my life, it was during meditation in 2012 that I began receiving persistent guidance from my spirit guides that I needed to return to Sedona.

I listened.

In February 2013, my friend Brighid and I traveled to Sedona for what initially seemed like a vacation. I could never have imagined just how profoundly that trip would change the course of my life.

A Message From My Ancestors

While meditating atop Bell Rock, one of Sedona's most recognizable spiritual landmarks, I experienced something extraordinary.

During that meditation, I perceived what appeared to me as a long line of my ancestors. Their message was unmistakable:

I was supposed to move to Sedona.

Of course, receiving spiritual guidance and completely uprooting your life to move across the country are two very different things!

What followed became a six-year journey of preparation, transformation, challenges, synchronicities, and trusting that I would eventually arrive exactly where I was supposed to be.

Finally, in October 2019, that dream became reality.

I packed my belongings into a large U-Haul trailer, attached it to my vehicle, and—with my beloved baby girl, Precious Mary Jean, by my side—set off on a three-day journey across the United States toward our new home.

And because Spirit apparently appreciates dramatic timing...

At exactly 9:22 PM on Halloween night, Precious and I pulled into the driveway of our new home in Sedona.

Halloween—the time of year traditionally associated with honoring ancestors and the thinning of the veil between worlds.

After the experience I'd had with my ancestors years earlier at Bell Rock, I couldn't have imagined a more meaningful moment to finally arrive home.

The Energy & Mystery of Sedona

Sedona is internationally known for its magnificent red-rock formations, breathtaking landscapes, spiritual community, and legendary energy vortexes.

People travel here from around the world seeking healing, adventure, meditation, spiritual awakening, inspiration—or sometimes simply because they feel inexplicably drawn here.

For many people, Sedona can feel incredibly intense.

In my own experience, this place has a remarkable ability to bring things to the surface. Emotions, old patterns, relationships, fears, desires, and unresolved parts of ourselves can suddenly demand our attention.

I often describe Sedona as a place that can amplify whatever you bring into it.

For someone ready for personal growth, that can be incredibly transformative.

Visitors also frequently describe unusually vivid dreams, heightened intuition, meaningful synchronicities, emotional releases, and profound spiritual experiences while spending time among the red rocks.

Whether you interpret those experiences spiritually, psychologically, energetically—or simply as the result of stepping away from everyday life into an extraordinary natural environment—Sedona has an undeniable way of leaving an impression.

Sedona's Famous Vortexes

You will often hear people talk about Sedona's famous energy vortex sites.

Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Airport Mesa and Boynton Canyon are among the locations most commonly associated with Sedona's vortex traditions, but many spiritual practitioners—including myself—believe the energetic landscape extends far beyond a handful of designated locations.

I have discovered many places throughout this area where the energy feels incredibly powerful.

Some locations feel grounding. Others feel expansive. Some seem ideal for meditation, while others can bring up surprisingly strong emotions or intuitive impressions.

Part of the magic is discovering which places speak to you.

Sedona is also surrounded by centuries of Indigenous history and sacred traditions that deserve respect. The landscape held profound importance long before Sedona became internationally associated with metaphysical spirituality, vortexes, healing retreats, and New Age practices.

UFOs, Mysteries & the Unexplained

Of course, this wouldn't be Spiritman territory without a little mystery!

Sedona has developed a longstanding reputation among paranormal and UFO enthusiasts as an unusual location for sightings and unexplained aerial phenomena.

The region is also home to the legendary Bradshaw Ranch, which has become the subject of decades of stories involving UFO sightings, strange lights, unusual phenomena, alleged portals, and other unexplained experiences.

How much is legend and how much represents something we have yet to understand?

That's part of the fun of Sedona.

For someone like me who has spent a lifetime exploring spirituality, consciousness, psychic phenomena, the paranormal, and the mysteries of our world, I couldn't have picked a more interesting backyard.

There Is So Much More to Sedona

Sedona may be relatively small, but you could spend weeks here and still feel as though you've only scratched the surface.

Beyond its spiritual reputation, you'll find spectacular hiking and mountain-biking trails, wonderful restaurants, unique shops and galleries, scenic drives, ancient landscapes, wildlife, stargazing, and some of the most extraordinary sunsets you'll ever witness.

And Sedona makes a wonderful base for exploring northern Arizona.

Flagstaff is less than an hour away, while the Grand Canyon is close enough for an unforgettable day trip. Northern Arizona is filled with historic towns, Native American cultural sites, forests, mountains, canyons, ancient ruins, and landscapes that can look like another planet.

It's one of the reasons I receive so many emails from people asking:

Where should I go? Which vortex should I visit? What should I experience? Where should I meditate?

Unfortunately, I simply can't personally answer every Sedona travel question I receive—which is one reason I've created experiences and resources to help visitors discover some of the Sedona that I have come to know and love.

Rather than simply seeing Sedona, my goal is to help you experience it.

I certainly didn't know that a meditation on Bell Rock would eventually lead to packing my entire life into a trailer and crossing the country with Precious beside me.

But that's the funny thing about life's greatest journeys.

Sometimes we don't choose the destination.
Sometimes the destination chooses us.

Sedona changed my life.
